Metro Swim Meet

The newman swim team earlier this season

Last Thursday and Saturday, the Newman swim team traveled to UNO to attend the Metro swim meet hosted by Jesuit. This is the most competitive meet of the season because the qualifying times are faster than those for state and this is the only meet in which teams from all four divisions attend. Although there was very stiff competition, the Newman swim team did extremely well considering its small size. This year, swimming in Thursday’s preliminary round was exceptionally challenging because the pool’s heater was broken, making the pool roughly the temperature of an ice bath. Luckily, the heater was fixed by Saturday, giving everyone a chance to swim in normal conditions.

Metro was the final meet of the season before state. The team had a phenomenal regular season and appreciates all the support they received at home meets this year. Let’s keep supporting our Newman Greenies on their journey to victory at the State Championships!
