Science Olympiad
The Science Olympiad Team is a center for science exploration and competition at Newman. The Science Olympiad team has been meeting once a week throughout the year to prepare for the regional competition in March. This year, the competition is on Saint Patrick’s Day at Nicholls State University. The event will include competitions in many diverse areas of science including chemistry, forensics, anatomy, invasive species, optics, herpetology, astronomy, hovercraft building, and much more! All competitions are partner based and contribute towards points for the entire team. The Newman team is hoping to average 5th place or better across competitions in order to qualify for the State Science Olympiad competition! If you have any interest in science or want to explore science in a fun way through Science Olympiad, talk to the team captains Emma Freeman, Dylon Hill, and Michael Massiha or the faculty sponsor Mr. Jones.
