Taylor Swift’s Reputation Tour Comes to the Superdome
On Saturday night, Taylor Swift performed for a total of 53,172 people at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. It was the largest attendance the stadium has ever seen for female artist, mentioned Swift. Surprisingly, this was the first time she had ever played in New Orleans. However, the star had previously performed at the Tiger Stadium in May of 2015 for her 1989 World Tour. The grand concert was started by opening acts Charili XCX and Camila Cabello, but the crowd truly came for her. Swift amazed the crowd with a total of twenty-four hit songs, three different stages, and a variation of props. She sang a range of tracks from her current album and the tour’s namesake, “Reputation”, to her debut album back in 2006. Beloved classics such as “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me” could not be left out. It was remarkable to watch Swift sing her country hits and then switch to her pop-era, also known as the “New Taylor.”
The concert’s visuals exceeded all expectations: huge three-dimensional hissing snakes rose from the floor, a twinkling suspended cage lifted Swift above the crowd, and massive background screens with images that extended to the floor of the stage to set the vibe for each song. Also, spectators were given special light-up bracelets that changed colors and glowed to the beat. During her encore “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”, a fountain spewing water was shuffled on stage, and for her triumphant single “Look What You Made Me Do”, a giant rocking platform took center stage. Swift’s vocals never faltered, and the crowd never stopped singing along. If you missed the concert, Taylor will be traveling to Houston this weekend (9/29) for another spectacular show.
