Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” Tour at the Superdome
Last Wednesday, Ed Sheeran performed for New Orleans at Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Even on Halloween night, the city showed their support with a full stadium of fans in costumes. Sheeran himself was dressed up as Prince Harry, but, as he explained to the audience, he added ghoulish makeup because Harry just wasn’t scary enough. Lauv and the band Snow Patrol opened the concert before Sheeran arrived on stage. Halloween-appropriate screams of excited fans filled the stadium as he made his debut. Even in the huge venue with thousands in attendance, Sheeran relied on stage presence alone; he and his guitar didn’t need theatrics.
The English vocalist sang some of his most cherished songs such as “Castle on the Hill”, “The A Team”, “Sing”, “Thinking Out Loud”, and more. At the end of the show, Sheeran quickly waved goodbye to the crowd after the “Last Song”. Jokingly, he appeared back on stage a few seconds later to sing an encore. Overall, he impressed fans with a friendly, sincere, and authentic concert.
