The National Championship

On January 13th, the New Orleans French Quarter was full of LSU and Clemson fans, as they swarmed the streets in anticipation of the College Football National Championship, being played that night. Clemson, although the 2019 National Champion, was not expected to win. Much to the pleasure of Louisianans, LSU–who had played an undefeated season thus far–was ranked #1 and favored to win over Clemson. That night, these projections came true as Joe Burrow led LSU to score 42 points to Clemson’s 25, with Burrow himself running in a touchdown. Burrow, a Ohio native, joined LSU as a transfer in May of 2018. Along with winning the Heisman trophy this year, Burrow clearly had an exceptional season. He will be the top draft pick for the NFL next season, but LSU will remain thankful for his decision to join the Tigers.
