2020 Grammys Awards
The Grammys was a big night for the music industry, but this year, the event was a much more somber and mournful occasion as stars paid tribute to Kobe Bryant just hours after he and his daughter died in a helicopter crash. The show opened with tributes to Bryant from Lizzo and this year’s host, Alicia Keys. The late stars, Prince and Nipley Hussle, were remembered throughout the night as well.
The performances this year did not disappoint. Among the performers included Lizzo, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, The Jonas Brothers. Tyler the Creator, Lil Nas X and Billy Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello and more. Demi Lovato also returned to the stage to sing for the first time since her hospitalization following an overdose over the summer. Her performance was emotional and brought her to tears.
Overall, the night belonged to Billie Eilish who won the most awards. Although Lizzo had the most nominations, Billie Eilish dominated as she took home the biggest awards: Best New Artist, Song, Record, and Album of the Year. At only 18 years old, she was the youngest person ever to be nominated for all four awards at the same time.
