Java Like It’s Hot Robotics Headed To STATE!
Saturday, February 12, 2022, Java Like It’s Hot Robotics (a name that the judges loved) competed in our first in-person competition of the season. Team members: Thomas Dwyer (our captain), Sam Milvid (our driver), Rachel Kashimawo, Kitt Bachmann, William Pitts, and Maya Harris (myself) traveled to Northshore High School in Slidell, LA for the FIRST Tech Challenge with their minds set on winning the Think Award. (The Think Award is an award given to the team whose Engineering Portfolio best reflected their journey of the engineering process). We were picked to compete in the elimination round but unfortunately lost in the semi-finals. However, when it was time for awards, we won the Think Award which qualified us for State, and this year, Newman will be hosting the State competition. So, March 26th, 20 of the best robotics teams in Louisiana will compete for a spot in the National competition.
