Spirit Week was a blast! This year, the Greenies went to Broadway. They spent Monday morning in their PJs, dressed in their hallway theme on Tuesday, corresponded with their grade level soundtrack for Wednesday, and for the last day of the week, dressed in classic green and white attire to support the football game and homecoming! Throughout the entire week, students participated in fun activities such as decorating their hallway, being a part of their grade-level dance (while having fun in their costumes), and cheering on their peers for the Volleyball Game. Students were able to get into the familiar Greenie spirit to kick the school year into an awesome start!
For the hallways, each grade did the theme justice with their outstanding portrayal of popular movie musicals. The Freshmen had Mamma Mia, the Sophomores had The Teen Beach Movie, the Juniors had Into The Woods, and the Seniors had The Greatest Showman. The Freshmen did very well for their first spirit week as they filled the Lemle 2nd Floor hallway with blue and white along with streamers at the entrance to their lockers. The Sophomores brought the beach to our school as the 1st Floor Lemle hallway was filled with blue from the ceiling to the walls–including lemonade and other sweet treats. The Juniors stepped up their game and created a magical wonderland–filled with flowers–with many references to beloved fairytale fables in the 1st Floor Jolly Entrance. The Seniors took a big leap from the others with their carnival decorations in the Krohn Foyer, and they used a huge tent filled with animals (stuffed animals of course) and even had a popcorn machine! Each grade put forth an amazing effort for their hallways. Ultimately, the Senior Class of 2025 took home the Spirit Stick—for the second year in a row!
After a long, eventful week was the much-awaited Spirit Week assembly, where students got to engage in competitions and watch the Pep Rally. Each grade got to show their Greenie spirit through their dances and the volleyball game. First, the freshman danced along to “I Came Here for Love,” showing off their unique dance moves and spirit. Next, the Sophomores’ fully embraced the Teen Beach Movie theme in their dance, with tropical attire paired with songs from the musical. Then, the Juniors get hype and “Crank that Soulja Boy!” with choreography and costumes centered around the infamous song. Finally, the Seniors came out with their basketball jerseys and blazers in a fun, interactive dance that featured songs from High School Musical to Shakira. Greenies were astonished when Seniors came riding on scooters and scooted around the Palestra! The Senior class was thrilled as they were announced as the grade-level dance winners—for the third year in a row!
At the end of the day, after the grade level dances, the addition of middle schoolers joining the assembly added to the excitement for the big volleyball game. The first game was Seniors versus Freshman. The Freshman put up a good fight, but the seniors were able to take the win. Next, for Juniors vs Sophomores, the Juniors almost lost, but they were able to win by one point. For the finale, Seniors won the entire tournament and were undefeated in the rounds with the Junior and Faculty teams. Everyone had a competitive spirit that was evidently shown during the game! The students had a great time participating in various activities this week, from dressing up for the themes to going to see the football game Friday night. What a great week to be a Greenie!
