Cross Country: Newman Invitational
On September 27th, the Varsity Cross Country team traveled down the street to Audubon Park to host the Newman Invitational. Despite some unexpectedly hot temperatures, the team performed well and enjoyed some fantastic support from students, parents, and faculty. In team scoring, both the boys and girls teams came in a respectable 5th place. On the individual side, junior Robert Freeman finished first for the Newman boys and 17th overall, while senior John Gainey came in just behind Robert, finishing 18th overall in the boys’ varsity race. Over on the girls’ side, senior Mikayla Rulh took home first place out of 145 competitors, beating the second-place finisher by a substantial margin of 24 seconds! Congratulations to those individuals, as well as the entire team. Additionally, a huge thank you is due to all of the parents who consistently make this meet such a success year after year. This meet could not run so smoothly without all of their assistance.
