Support Strikes Again: the Fifth Grade Teachers
Staying at home continues to encourage support within communities.
The fifth grade teachers, donned in Newman gear and green cloth face masks, buckled up for a day trip. They went around the city, knocking on doors (and backing up six feet) to say hi to each of their students.
I joined Newman in 6th grade, so I only know their faces. But they’re faces of heroes. When our dad called Zoe from upstairs and said someone was asking for her, she ran down the stairs like her life depended on it. She was so incredibly excited to see her teachers and hear their voices. Their 5 minute visit meant so much to her. They even gave her a parting gift. She was beaming when she shut the door and looked at her ‘class of 2027’ T-shirt and her own personal doll made by Mrs. Sevin.
It was heartwarming to see this support in the Newman community. It was truly, deeply appreciated.
