Girl’s Basketball Senior Night

Girls+Basketball+Senior+Night

In their first basketball season as a Varsity team since Katrina, these girls are already making waves! On Jan. 30th, they faced a tough district opponent: Louis S. McGhee School. They came out strong and created a lead in the first quarter. They held this lead throughout the game and came out on top with a win! This final score was (44-33).

This game was the first time that they have been able to beat McGhee since their reinstatement as a team four years ago! As a district game, the win will be crucial for LHSAA power-points which will hopefully help them advance to the playoffs. After the game, the team had a senior night presentation which celebrated their lone senior Katherine Vogt for all the hard work, dedication, and devotion she has put in since the team’s reinstatement and as a team captain this year. Additionally, there are more opportunities to come out and support your Newman Varsity Girl’s Basketball Team this week with their games, on Thursday (Jan. 31st) at Saint Katherine Drexel at 4:30 and on Saturday (Feb. 3rd) at Country Day.
