Best Country Day Game to Date

The Newman vs. Country Day football game is notorious for fueling both schools’ spirit and competitiveness every time it rolls around. This year, both programs were fortunate enough to meet at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium. Students packed the stadium, eager to watch Newman battle for a win against such a long-standing rival. After losing last year’s game, the pressure to uphold an undefeated season, and the opportunity to play on such a big stage, the Newman football team had a lot on the line. The student section was electric and cheers were led by very spirited seniors.

The entire Newman football team was on fire after halftime. Coming out on a one-point lead, the Greenies managed to end the game with a 38-13 victory. Players like Joseph Pleasant dominated the game, managing to score a total of four touchdowns. Will Hardie nailed a 35-yard field goal and Arch Manning threw a total of 203 yards. Those are just some of the accomplishments made by a few players from an outstanding team. Head Coach Nelson Stewart was very proud of his team, saying that: “This was a great win against a really good opponent.” Considering the results of this year and the atmosphere of a college stadium, many people agree that the Newman vs. Country Day game should now be played at Yulman Stadium.
