Recipe For The Classic Thanksgiving Sweet Potatoes With Marshmallows

“Sweet potatoes and marshmallows, that’s crazy talk!” Yes, this recipe may sound off for people who never have tasted or heard of this recipe. However, sweet potatoes with marshmallows is definitely a fantastic dish one has to try!

Ingredients:
-3 or 4 sweet potatoes
-half a stick of butter
-between a 1/4th and half a cup of milk or cream
-salt
-cinnamon
-nutmeg
-brown sugar
-marshmallows

Steps:
1. Take the potatoes and peel them to get rid of all the bumps and spots
2. Chop the sweet potatoes into cubes
3. Put them in a large pot of water and put in a pinch of salt
4. Boil the potatoes on medium-low until they get soft (You can stick a fork in them to test the softness)
5. When done you drain put them in a bowl
6. Take a stand up or handhold mixer and whip the potatoes
7. As mixing them, add butter and the milk or cream a little bit at a time
8. When done, add a pinch of nutmeg, cinnamon, and brown sugar
9. Take butter and spread it around the casserole dish and then put the potatoes in the dish and spread it out to make it even. The butter makes sure that the potatoes don’t stick to the pan
10. Put the marshmallows on top of the potatoes. If big marshmallows cut them in half
11. Bake the potatoes and marshmallows for 45mins or until they turn brown at 350 uncovered

This recipe has been in my family’s traditional Thanksgiving dinner forever. I have always loved this dish and look forward to it every year. It’s a perfect sweet dish to go along with the rest of the meal. Try making this dish when next year’s Thanksgiving comes around.
