Girls Varsity Soccer State Bracket 2021
The Girls’ Soccer Team is trying to not only win state, but also defeat COVID-19.
The seedings are finally in for the Division IV Girls Soccer state bracket 2021. The number one seed this year is your Newman Girls’ Varsity team! This seeding came was not a surprise considering their three stellar wins last week, especially against Division I powerhouse Dutchtown, the team gained enough powerpoints to move from four to one. This has been the first time since 2012 that the Girls Team is seeded at number one. With a seed between one through eight, the team earns a bye week.
Their first game is expected to be against the winner of the first Bi-District round, which is between (16) Cavalry Baptist and (17) Northlake Christian. Other district teams in Division IV are (9) Sacred Heart and (13) Country Day. Unfortunately, McGehee is not playing in the playoffs due to Covid. The LHSAA has issued a strict blanket statement, which eliminates any team in the state tournament that has two positive cases.
Not only will the soccer team be trying to win their fourth state title in five years, but they will also be trying to beat Covid-19. The fear of losing to Covid is definitely on players’ minds, however, everyone has taken very serious measures to make sure that they are able to compete in the 2021 State Tournament.
