Girl’s Soccer Playoff Update

As the regular season has come to a close, the girls’ soccer team is revving up for an unforgettable playoff run. Coming into the state tournament seeded at second, the team was able to host their first playoff game at home, against local rival Country Day. This was an exciting game because Newman had beat Country Day earlier in the regular season at Country Day, 5-0. Their first playoff game was no different. Beating the daises 5-1, the girl’s team came out ready to fight. They scored three goals in the first five minutes, something that is very difficult to do. Tori Thomas scored a hat trick, putting one away in the first half and then two goals in the last five minutes of the game. Wish the girl’s soccer team luck as they travel Monday, February 17th to play Pope John Paul, the tenth seed from Slidell.
