During Dr. Pratt’s time here at Newman, where he teaches US History and Middle Eastern Studies, he has likes the community’s confidence in our purpose and how proud the community is about it’s accomplishments. His favorite thing about teaching is being able to help a student think about a new historical idea in a new way for the fist time.

Dr. Pratt grew up in Long Island, New York and first taught at Ross School in New York. He receives a BA from Vassar College, and then got a MA and  PhD from Indiana University.  He then moved down here and taught at Ben Franklin High School, and finally came here to Newman.

Dr Pratts favorite things about New Orleans is the great live music we have, especially Jazz! In addition, he like to listen to improvisational music. He fills his time with spending time with his wife and his dogs. He also enjoys to go to concerts and loves to eat pizza! His favorite songs are Penguin Dancer by Masayoshi Takanaka and Birds do not sing by TV Girl. And, he enjoys reading A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole and Meditations of Marcus Aurelius.
