Here at Newman Dr. George teaches Honors and Regular Art History, but hopes to teach more courses in the future. Over his time here he has loved the academic excellence of our students, and he would love to get to know more student and introduce them to new art and culture.
Dr. George grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received his BA in English Literature at Santa Clara University, MFA in Creative Writing at University of Alaska Anchorage, MA in Art History and Museum Studies at City College of New York, and finally a PhD in Art History at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. And After he has taught in NYC at SUNY – F.I.T, CUNY – Baruch, and CUNY – City College. He also taught in NC at UNC – Charlotte.
As he has not been here long, he has fist loves the music, food, and creativity of the city, and is exited to learn new things as well. Dr. George spend his time walking around the unfamiliar street of New Orleans. His favorite books for academics is Clifford Geertz, The Interpretation of Cultures, and for creativity Diane Seuss, Frank: Sonnets. And his favorite songs at the moment are any songs form Mumford & Sons because they were the first people he saw in New Orleans.
