Every October thirty first, nationally we celebrate a holiday full of candy and costumes! This year there were many unique and new costumes, but also the same classic costumes that we see every year. Popular costumes this year were the Lorax, Rumi and Zoey from K-pop Demon Hunters, Harry Potter, and many others. Many people enjoyed dressing up as The Lorax as though it is a funny silly costume that makes others laugh! Not only that but it’s a simple costume to put together, and doesn’t require tons of time and money to receive. This year there was a new movie called K-pop Demon Hunters that became incredibly popular across all ages, with their catchy songs and their colorful bright costumes. Harry potter has always been a classic for years and years as though the movie series is adventurous and engaging.
Another big part of Halloween is the trick or treating! From chocolate and gummies to lollipops and candycorn, chocolate seems to take the charts this year. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and ranked at the most popular halloween candy with their chocolatey outside and creamy peanut butter middle. After the cups comes M&M’s, a fan favorite milk chocolate with a candy colored coating around them. In third place comes KitKats which are a crispy, cream filled wafer covered in chocolate. In fourth place is Snickers that have a caramel nutty filling with nougat and once again, covered in chocolate. Finally the fifth most popular candy this year is Sour Patch Kids that are a fruit flavored gummy with a citric acid sour coating. While these are just five of the most popular candies, there are hundreds of different types of candies and chocolates.
There are many popular places to Trick or Treat all over New Orleans including Magazine Street, St. Charles Avenue, State Street, as well as Napoleon Avenue. Every year on St. Charles Avenue one house receives all the attention. This house at the corner of State Street, is commonly referred to as the “Skeleton House”. In the yard, one hundred and maybe even more skeletons are displayed in the yard, often capturing pop culture moments and city jokes. 
From costumes to candy to spooky houses, this Halloween was a blast!
